March Long weekend was another brilliant trip to Beachport, South Australia, a scenic beach adventure. Nestled on the picturesque Limestone Coast, Beachport is renowned for its breathtaking coastline, sand dunes, and rugged landscapes.

Alek Bennett – thank you for this footage – it sums up the whole trip – Absolutely magnificent!

We set off from Bendigo on Friday morning from the Marong Coffee Van, a few had already settled in and spent a few days at Beachport.  A 4hr 54min drive (443.2 km) and a lovely stop of for lunch at the Grand Central Pub in Horsham and we arrived at the Southern Ocean Caravan park.

Airing down in the morning a convoy of 20 cars left the Caravan Park at 9:00 am.   We hugged the coast line past the Pool of Siloam (Salt Lake) and had beautiful views of the ocean and rugged coastline. We reached the sand which was nice and firm compared to last year and navigated on and off the beach.

Spending hours driving along the beach, soaking the scenery, playing in sand dunes taking dips in the freezing cold ocean, and even some fishing only to catch seaweed.  Just before lunch about 12 unlucky cars hit a patch of soft patch and went down!  Thanks to all who worked like worker bees to help each other out – Legends especially on a 38 degree day!!!!

We had some well deserved beers at Robe and ventured back to Bechport via the highway.  Dinner was at the Beachport Hotel – Seafood galore & Congo lines!

We headed the other way, an entirely different scene and environment altogether.  Departing from Beachport, we veered onto the beach, just past the beach caravan park, driving all the way to Southend. The Beach was full of seaweed and flat.  Canunda National Park, a highlight of our trip. Our smoko stop was at an awesome sand dune, some brave people scaled it while others watched kids and adults sand surfing and tumbling down – lots of fun! The old ATOYOT struggled up one dune and had an attempt about 4 times must have been all that weight!!  A rim came off, a few buried wheels and wenching everyone eventually made it!

Returning to Southend and eventually Beachport, some of us ventured to the Beachport Brewery while other went and played in the dunes before another night at the pub.

Members made their own way home, some via the Coonawarra wine region, others stayed a few more nights!

Our trip to Beachport in 2024 was nothing short of incredible. It’s perfectly suited for exploring and conquering rugged terrains, sand dunes and coastal scenery. Whether you’re a seasoned explorer or a newcomer, Beachport promises an adventure of a lifetime!!  Thanks for a fantastic weekend everyone!
