The club committee made a decision to put in a submission to VEAC on behalf of the club objecting to the draft report’s recommendations, because they will restrict access and use of the state forests and areas under the review, including Pyrenees State Forest and Wombat State Forest.

The committee felt that any additional restrictions on how these forests were used by the public wasn’t a good outcome for four-wheel-drivers, since it will ban or restrict activities such as camping and firewood collection and lead to track closures. The restrictions also impact activities such as hunting, prospecting and horse riding and we’re also conscious that many of our members also enjoy these activities in state forests.

If you’d like any additional information on the VEAC investigation and their draft recommendations, please visit the page on VEAC’s website.

If this is a matter that you feel is important to you, you can also submit your own comments and this will strengthen the case – you don’t need to write a full submission like the club has, just put your name and your details and write a couple of simple paragraphs. You can also view other people’s submissions to get some ideas if you’re not sure what to write. The process takes about 5 minutes.

Here is the link to make a submission, we encourage you to do this if this is an issue that you care about.

The closing date for submissions is 10th December 2018
