Description of Trip
The plan is to follow the Mallee Drive touring route in an anti-clockwise direction starting at Lake Albacutya, Wyperfeld National Park. We will visit Wyperfeld, Murray-Sunset and Big Desert, when we reach the south western part of the route we will continue south to Little Desert. This is an Easy-Medium rated trip and focuses on the scenery and a relaxed pace. The Mallee areas have a lot of diverse landscapes and wildlife, and we are also travelling at a time of year when wildflowers should be out. Expect to see Mallee scrub, Dry lake beds, flood plains, sand dunes, Pine woodlands, salt lakes, historical mining ruins and pastural stations. We will also tackle a few difficult sand dunes while we’re at it!
